I would like to share how Neil has helped me .
My doubles game was inconsistent and I couldn't figure out why. I patterned the gun and it looked ok. I was not getting anywhere until I followed his advice on patterning.
It was alot of trouble but well worth the effort. The bottom barrel shot 6" lower poi than the top.
If not for the barrels being unregulated I would have not learned from the best shotgun ballistics expert while he was still alive.
I have and will continue to help others figure out where thier gun shoots using what I have learned from my friend
Neil.
He was always there when I needed help.
Thanks Henry
How did you correct this?

Enduring tribute..... it is amazing what the man produced for us to use....... Yesterday I used his point of impact tutorial in beginning to work with a gun I own. Did not have to worry or fret or search the forums for "how to". His work came to mind, I visited the pages and was good to go..... Thank you NW.......... Larry

It took two tries to correct the poi.
First I had the barrels re sordered to raise the poi on the btm barrel.
This really helped and made both barrels shoot the same poi.

For my shooting stile I prefer that the first shot on doubles that the bottom barrel shoot higher than the top.

I ended up sending it to Briley to finnish the job. They tubed the gun so that the bottom barrel shoots 4 inches higher than the top.

Been raining here seems like forever..... built a solid brass 12ga shell in the lathe and chambered it for my 223 laser bore sighter. Used the kitchen table and the hallway to set up the 13 yard......... works just like the NW plan but no noise and dry. Made the solid shell to fit my DG 101, tried it in my 1100 Trap and it is a bit looser but still works..... wonder if NW ever tried it with a laser sighter? Larry

Right, wrong or indifferent, I will miss Neil. I never responded to any of his threads because I don't believe I'm worthy but I read every one.

Neil was a truly a unique individual. His unlimited resources and genius were a constant source of trapshooting info. Debunking myths was of great service to trapshooters.

Some here probably remember the thread about Ludwig and the flying clay target. One of most enjoyable threads here ever.

I discovered Neils download on patterning earlier this year which finally gave me a clear explanation of how to decipher my shot pattern.
His article was/is very in-depth with many images to detail his explanations.
I was very sad to hear he passed away. His articles will live on with what I learned.

A Few Words About Neil
Neil was a verifiable genius, and his relentless pursuit of the science of trapshooting is unsurpassed. It was his passion. And he wanted to share his knowledge with anyone who would listen, for the betterment of the sport.
In one of my phone calls with him, he asked that I let the community know, that he continued this pursuit of knowledge, literally, until the end. Over the past several months, we spoke often, and he would share bits of knowledge with me. Details about testing this or that. Pass/fail criteria.
The last time I spoke with him was a little over a week ago, and even at that time, he was "schooling" me on patterning and how to best utilize Shotgun Insight, even to the level of detail of what settings to use on his camera to get the best photographic image for the program to "find" the pellet strikes.
And on that note, I will also share with you that Neil was an incredibly generous man. Once he knew his demise was imminent, many of the scientific "items" in his collection found their way to the people whom he thought would make best use of them. I am one of those fortunate recipients. I now have his notebook with his handwritten notes in it.
The trapshooting community has lost a great resource.
