I have seen a lot of complaints about those guns. Made in Turkey and poor quality control probably.

 

We own a few of these in 20 gauge, they are very finicky when it comes to cycling different types of shells. Must have a really tight tolerance or something. But no trigger issues.

 

I got 6 of them for my Junior shooters before California Tax. Have a several thousand rounds through each.
Nothing like Remington.

Your description of the problem makes a remote diagnosis impossible.
The "button" your finger is on is the slide release. If you're a left hander, you could be moving it enough to unlock the slide, but beyond that, I don't think I can help without physically inspecting the gun.

We tried all kinds of fixes. Nothing worked so we ordered a new one. It should be here Tuesday.

The winchester 1200 design which has become the SXP is a fantastic design. IMO not built as well as a good 870 or Mossberg 500 but the design is excellent. With the price they are selling for now that they are made in Turkey I would imagine that Winchester could have sent you a whole trigger group for free in lieu of you or them having to troubleshoot it.

I have heard/seen complaints about the design for 60 years.

Many of the old time gundealers, gunsmiths and such maintained or held court on this design.

The gun that broke Winchester is this courts decision.

One old gentleman had a store in Chicago during the early years of the Winchester 1200/1400 embarrassment of Winchester. Told of a Winchester VP visiting his store with his Winchester rep, all the VP was interested in was hearing how great Winchester was.

Joe, (the old gentleman) took the VP to a large room full of 1200/1400 shotguns. "These are all of these shotguns we have ever sold, all returned for warranty repairs, and sitting here waiting for .25 cent parts you won't release to us!"

We don't have space to cover all the issues that I personally have dealt with on the parts group your picture shows. But you will be better off finding a replacement trigger group than attempting to fix that one.

I will add that with Turkish guns having a reputation for poor quality, I have to wonder that a design of such poor quality from the start had any life at all in the Turkish rendition!?

I had no idea this trigger had a difference until i tried it.
It is almost an inch shoter. The shell will not stay in the shell tube. They get stuck in the end of the new trigger.
Can this me put in the other frame? new on bottom

 

Didn't they ask for the S/N of the gun before sending the trigger group?
Your trigger group looks to be from a 3 1/2" chambered SXP, and the one they sent you for a 2 3/4" gun.

 

they did not ask. I did not know there was a difference, But I do now,
never worked on a SXP before.

Numrich didn't have the difference listed.

 

I went on there forum. They explained what to do. They received my part yesterday and shipped the correct one. I should be here Monday.

One of our High School shooters had the same problem a week ago.. Not a hard fix with a new hammer from Midwest Gun Works. The hammer pin pivots with the hammer through bonded bushings. When the pin no longer turns the slide lock is not released and the sear becomes almost disconnected from the trigger causing intermittent firing..Just looked and the hammer assembly is at the moment unavailable. They must sell a lot of them. Dale

I don't know if it is a blessing or the curse to not need to order the parts by serial number range?
