No criticism here, shoot what you enjoy. Out of curiosity, though, how would you know if you are missing out if you’ve never tried it?

I think an argument could be made that if you haven’t tried all disciplines you are missing out. Variety is the spice of something... I think.
I have shot all the disciplines. Singles, handicaps, and doubles. :ROFLMAO: Like I said, I've shot skeet. Sporting clays...I've seen guy's shoot some stations but it just didn't register with me as much fun as trap shooting. Especially trap games. Shoot well BP.

Down here we’re limited to 28 gram (1 oz) for most events, with no velocity limit.
Handicap can use 32 g (1 1/8) no velocity limit.

I tried 32g at 1350.

No thank you. Recoil doesn’t usually bother me but these did. I’d have developed a flinch from hell if I persisted.
Now I have about 16 boxes of the damn things.

Physics. The faster it starts the faster it slows down, You get little of the extra speed by the time the shot gets to the target. For, example, my reference for target distance of 50 yards

1200 fps time to target 0.186 sec speed at target 610fps

1295 fps time to target 0.177 sec speed at target 630fps

I don't have #'s for 1350, but you get the point.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. If it would have broke with one of the 1-1/8 7.5 loads it would have broke with the other one.
That XF choke was the main driver of the breaks.

We used to be able to poke fun of and jab our fellow shooters on here, just like we all do in the clubhouse or on the course, without people taking it so seriously. I shoot other games as well and do enjoy the sporting course and the occasional round of skeet. I don't know if it's the cold weather or what, but my statement was just that, tongue in cheek. If coach feels I've shit on him, that was not my intention and I apologize. Now lets get this thread back on track.
"Now lets get this thread back on track." from the fun poker who got this off track in the first place. Incredibile!

Some of us are getting Cabin Fever. No harm, no foul. I saw no feces headed my way (whew). LOL

Shot some fast 60+ yd crossers as the second bird in a true pair station with this load. Screwed in a Full choke and smoked those fools! Underestimated the range, or I would have used XF, but the combo of full choke and a lot of hard, fast 7 1/2's worked their magic.

I have put in a request from a kind soul on this forum who graciously offered to sell me some of his WAA12R wads. I think I WILL load some more when Thor's hammer is needed.

I would not want to shoot a whole round with this load, but three or four on several stations is no issue. My new K-80 kicks less with big loads than any fixed breech shotgun I have owned. Fit is everything. This K-80 weighs in at 8 lb, 11 1/2 ounces, which helps too.

Am going to be certified to ref FITASC shoots locally, and will start loading one ounce at this same speed for the game. I have to get back in the swing of shooting from low gun.

I also look forward to shooting trap when shoots start being scheduled and the weather is more predictable.

A prayer for our shooting brothers in Texas who had it a lot worse than we did.

You took that WAY out of context. I did not, nor was it my intention to shit on coach. Some guys just take things too damn seriously. Come on man!

I can guarantee that most of us (including me) have shot all those other games! See my statement above to superx. Some peoples buttholes are wrapped pretty tightly. Wow!

You been peeking ??

In my opinion
In this day and time we don’t need to scold, talk about, criticize, correct, compare anyone that shoots any type of shooting sports.
we should have a brotherhood feeling as we are all in the same boat.
We possibly need to look at what threats that are lingering on each and every one of us that owns guns and enjoy the freedom of being able to do what we are doing.
SHOOTING.
It doesn’t look good for the next few years. Brotherhood my friends brotherhood.

1300, 1-1/8 #7.5's are my go to Games load. They were my sporting load, but I've gone to 1 oz, 1300, 8's or 7.5's.

!,350 would be fine once in a while, but the thousands of rounds we shoot would really wear on a guy shooting any volume no matter how well your gun fit.

WOW 1350 fps 1 1/8 oz would be a thumper, great for pheasant where you only shoot 10 or so a day, my shoulder hurts just thinking about 100 in a row on the trap line 😂 the fastest I shoot is 1 oz nitro 27 at 1290 and max 100 a day for cap the rest are 1 oz at 1200.

Well, I shot a few of the small batch I loaded. Noisy (was surprised the staff did not come out and ask about the ammo), pushes me around a little, and absolutely destroys 50+ yd targets with the Extra Full choke. Nothing uncomfortable, but my gun fits.

Will I load them again? Likely not. Can't really tell any improvement in performance over 1300 foot loads with the same amount and type of shot (Lawrence Magnum 7 1/2).

Mainly, the load calls for the better part of 28 gr of Herco, and the WAA12R or clone wad. The wad is hard to find, and the progressive press empties the powder bottle with alarming speed.

Solved my curiosity about super fast loads. Seems 1300 with 1 1/8 oz is at the point of diminishing returns for Sporting ammo. It does give satisfying breaks at any range with an Extra Full choke. The kind of break when a solid is turned into a vapor.
Have you had the opportunity to pattern this load?

1400fps 1-1/8oz would probably be even better then
If I remember correctly NW and several others did not see any pattern degradation with velocities between 1100-1300 FPS with a 1.125 7.5 load. Once you push past 1300, especially with a XF choke, would you have any concern about the pattern? The laws of physics don’t change if you believe that a high percentage of the shot is deformed as it passes through the choke as a function of constriction and velocity.

Was reading Coach’s first post and I lost a tooth filling thinking about that weight and velocity. I guess if you added a few pounds to your gun it might help counter some of that shoulder slap... If you had ported barrels you would have had an audience come out to see what was going on for sure.

If the gun was ported they would probably ban me from the club. LOL 27.7 gr of Herco delivers a pretty good bark. I have Longshot, but 1500fps+ does not wind my watch.

Have not patterned the load on paper. Just on targets. The patterning board at the club is deep in tall grass. Since I went through multiple rounds of chemo, if I get a tick bite, I am in trouble. VA keeps me prescribed with an antibiotic just in case. In spring of 2016, a tick bite almost killed me. Spent 12 hours in the Emergency room and a week in ICU. They call me Fearless, but I have a healthy respect for a tick.

I don't have enough OCD to analyze a three dimensional pattern on two dimensional paper. These aren't benchrest rifles.

Fast loads are fun. I use my Xtrema to run them. I really like 1550 fps behind a 9/8 load.
I found them back in 2003 looking through a Hodgdon book. Longshot had come out and I use a lot of it. 30+ grains per load. It will chuck empties clear into one station over. I remember people did not want to be on the right of me, sometimes. I suppose if you didn't know how to dance, one of my empties down the back of your shirt will teach ya. Just kidding. One night we were shooting and it had gotten dark and you could just see the fire flying out of the action and 6 feet out of the barrel. It was the stuff of wild dreams!! Importantly though, fast loads improved my score. By a bunch. They are not legal in all games, but in some games you can use them.
