I’m going to give it a try.
Right now I’m loading Ramshot Competion and I’m not a big fan. Even with a brass and rubber washer it’s messy.
Haven’t patterned it but it seems to kick a lot more than Titewad.

What's not to LIKE???? Hodgdon lists loads from 7/8 oz. to 1 1/8 oz. in both Win. AAHS and STS hulls using Perfect Pattern powder. Hodgdon list loads with every different speed with each payload using Cheddite primers as well. Something that Alliant Does Not Do!!! What's not to Love!!! Perfect Pattern is also currently the least costly 12 ga. powder to load, target 12 ga. shells with. A Mec #14 bushing will drop 13.7 grains of PP powder. While the same Mec #14 bushing will drop 13.8 grains of HighGun powder. I get ZERO powder migration when I reload with HighGun powder using new rubber and brass washers. Which drops 1 ten of a grain more powder that Perfect Patter drops. So I expect you'll have the same results with Perfect Patten powder that I have with HighGun powder.
Powder is just a propellant. Which does not effect a shotguns pattern. Factories change powder in their shells all the time. The quality of your shot, is by far the biggest factor in your shotguns pattern. I suspect the wad could effect your pattern by 1% maybe 2%??? That's a Maybe Now??? The powder and primers used only push the wad and shot out your shotguns barrel. So they only effect the speed. Once you have the speed dialed in, it makes no difference. Hodgdon's loading data should be close. But I hear shooters here on TS.com say that brand YY powder recoils more, than brand XX powder. I suspect that its just their new powder is pushing their loads 30 to 50 fps faster is all. In part because the reloading data is off a bit (on your lot of powder), or the Air Temp's and Barometric pressures can change the speeds and pressures of loads at different times of the year as well. So that can change speeds enough that its possible this shooter is noticing the difference in recoil from the change of seasons as well??? Anyway, If you have any doubts about the results of your loads speeds??? I expect you should send in a few loads for testing in one of the two labs that test reloads. Or if your recoil is a tad heavier that your likely? Just drop your powder drops by a 1/2 grain!!! Good Luck to Ya, no matter which powder you purchase. So what your trying to say is, that you do not like Dense Powders when reloading!!!

By the way, Remington uses Dense powders in their Nitro line of premium shells. That is why you'll find a one oz. wad being used instead of a 1 1/8 oz. wad. This info comes strait from Pheasantmaster.
I find I get way more consistent powder drops using dense powders. The only negative is that you can get some powder migration leaks under the charge bars. Which I clearly stated that I do not get when using HighGun powder in my loads. I do get some powder leaks when I load with H-110, or Win. 296 powders. But I have learned to live with the small leaks. After loading 400 shells, I only get a few grains of spilled powder. So the leak is a minor one. The powder is well worth dealing with the leaks. As I get long hull life, and get very consistent loads with this powder.

I get your point though. Homosapiens are creatures of Habit!!! We tend to keep doing the same things over and over again. Once you've re-loaded with a certain powder for decades, its hard to switch to a different powder. Break em all Jeff

More specifically when loading clay sports type loads and their ilk. I love slow burning dense ball powders for heavy hunting type loads.

I went to Perfect Pattern when Red Dot first became scarce and then became too pricey. I love PP and have forgotten about RD.

I am doing the same theing. Down to my last four pounds of Red Dot and have an eight pounder of PP I am going to try.

i would get the 16, 17 and 18 if your loading 1oz shot
