How am I supposed to tell a good shell (consistent velocity, consistent chamber pressure, good pattern) from a poor shell by just shooting them on the line? Is it possible to judge shells by the sound they make. This year at a 200 bird singles event, I got 4 boxes of Challenger shells from a friend. I ran the first 100 with them. I then shot a 96 on the second hundred with 4 boxes of Rem STS shells. Does that indicate the Remington shells were inferior to the Challenger ? Or, is it possible that some other factors were responsible for the difference in scores?
