Many times, even on new guns, The number is on the back. The standard for most Sporting clays guns is a "4". For every number larger than that the POI is approximately 2 inches. I shoot a number "6" on one barrel and a "5" on another. They both shoot approximately a 60/40 pattern. The only real test is at the pattern board. Krieghoff will exchange hangers for around $20.00. They will charge you $120 until they receive your hanger. I have done this several times and am highly satisfied with the results.

I have checked both sides of the hanger with a 10x loupe and there are no numbers or markings on the hanger.

 

Hi Buzz A call to Krieghoff might be helpful as they should guide you as to how to maybe manually take a measurement to identify which hanger you may have. As Pat says - a number 4 or 5 is the midpoint and should get both barrels pattering in the same region. Regards ES

I would take a micrometer and measure it. The give Krieghoff in Ottsville a call. They will help you. Sounds like you have an old hanger from a K32. They didn't mark them. They are still changeable though. Again Krieghoff will help. They are good people. I would wait until next week as they are in Sparta right now.

I will take the barrel over to cardinal later this month and have krieghoff tell me what I have and which hanger to try first.

 

I tried calling the parts department last week and got Elmer's voicemail stating he was at the Grand. No one backing him up until next week.

install a #7 hanger and it will be lower

 

I have had to change the hanger on all but one K80 I have owned to get the two barrels to shoot on top of each other and 50/50 That is the set up I want for Sporting Clays and just one reason I now shoot Perazzis. Every one of the half dozen or so Perazzi barrels I have owned shoot on top of each other.

 

So how hard is it to change a hanger? You obviously check the POI on all your guns.

 

the hanger is not hard to change, use the pin punch to remove the pin tap the hanger off it has a dovetail and install the new hanger and replace the pin, 5 minute job

I tried one once. Could not tell any different between it and steel other than looks. But I like the look. Wish they made them for factory fixed choke barrels, as that's what I shoot now and would love to get that Ti look out front

Ditto my experience. I've needed to go up 1 or 2 sizes on most of the K-80 barrels I've owned to get them both printing to the same POI. I test/confirm at 30 yards and use at least Mod chokes.

 

I also fine tune with the mid hanger.

 

My manual on a newer run K80 also says zero about the mid hanger..

 

 

Have a #4 on my Pro Sport (7" poi @ 30 yards) and a #2 on my Pro Rib doubles gun (13" poi @ 30 yards).

 

I went with a # 5 barrel hanger hopefully it will be a good choice.

 

I just purchased a used K80 and noticed there is a little play at the hanger. Is this normal? I can see it move in the dove tail. I would assume the pin is just to keep it from sliding out of the dove tail. I do not think the dovetail wears out....?

 

Yes, a little play is normal for heat expansion.
