About a year ago an a$$hole let his gun fall into my Krieghoff Gold Super Scroll while it was sitting in the rack at the range. Up to that point the gun didn’t have a mark on it. I call him an a$$hole because he didn’t apologize nor offer to pay for any repair. Perhaps my bad for not pressing the issue. At age 70 I am too old to spend a night in jail for assault. 🙄

It wouldn‘t be so bad but the mark is right on top of the comb where I see it every time I look down at the stock. The “mark” is basically a dent/scrape in the finish not deep enough to get into the wood. Because the stock doesn’t have an oil finish I’m thinking I can’t apply a little steam judiciously to it.

I’ve thought about :

Taking some clear nail polish and applying a little at a time until I get it level with the surrounding area . . . .or

taking some True Oil and applying several minimal coats to build it up - but I’ve never used True Oil for refinishing.

Hoping for some suggestions re: one of the above or another method to fix the problem.

Thanks in advance.

1 I don't think I would want to steam that, being concerned about moisture under the finish.
2 I wouldn't use true oil because I don't think it will be compatible with the Krieghoff finish.
Just an opinion

I don’t think you’ll be truly satisfied or happy regardless of what you do. If it were me, and since it’s the off-season, I’d send it to Krieghoff for a factory finish. It’s the only way to get it out of your mind.

Understanding your K gun is not a Browning, I had a Grade 3 with a high gloss finish and it got scratched, by a friend I lent it to...

This may sound strange, but I used Flitz and a soft cloth and polished the gloss finish until I got the scratch out...

No swirls seen once the scratch was gone... maybe an option?!

Dennis DeVault was an expert at fixing scratches and dents like that. I watched him fix several stocks like that with super glue. If you think your handy enough , try the super glue before you send it out for repair. (save some money) . If you don't like the results Then send it to someone. From the picture it doesn't look that hard to repair. Dent does'nt look very deep. I have fixed a few small dents with fine rubbing compound , (just on the dent area) till it smooths out somewhat, and several coats of car wax afterwards to level it out. Had great results.
