Wore my issue combat boots for years. Leather boots. The canvas topped jungle boots were cool but dry stubble ate them pretty fast. Still have a couple of the nylon comfort insoles for my last pair of boots but don't wear them much any more.

 

Never heard of them so I looked at their website.

I really don't think they are "Hoffman Boots". I think they are a rebranded "XX". They seem to be a retail store more than a shoe manufacturer. You can't buy anything other than Russell on their website, same with Kenetrex and Allen Edmonds.

Some of the names on there are quality boots - is lending to the assumption that these are the same level of quality? I do not know.

They look sturdy...I hope they serve you well and keep us post on longevity.

 

They’re handmade in their Idaho facility. I spoke with the owner, he actually answered the phone. There are YouTube videos online of them making boots. I thought these were an Italian import but they actually manufacture the boots themselves. Very impressive in this day and age. Russell makes a good boot but I’ve yet to talk to someone who owned a pair that didn’t leak. I don’t think they’re advertised as waterproof though. I don’t think they have liners.

I have worn so many different boots over my life and as soon as they leak they go in the trash and cross their name off my list. Of all my trash can liners they all have one thing in common - Goretex! I fell for the hype and emptied my wallet because of this falacy. The other thing they may have in common is some sort of cordura.

I will no longer even look at a boot that is not 100% leather. If it is a shorter boot then the gussets on the tongue must be sewn to the boot past the ankle. If the boot has a Goodyear welt it gets extra points. Then I slobber them up with waterproofing coating.

The boots you show have the rubber thing glued to the boot and it will eventually come loose and catch on grass. Don't get me wrong, it sure adds durability if you are walking rocks.

I’ve got almost 14 miles on them in two days and absolutely love them. The first day was rain and the second was snow and lots of standing water. It’s hard to say how any boot will hold up over time but in my experience these are the best made boots I’ve seen yet. I’ve had Meindl, Zamberlans, tried on Crispi, Schnee’s, and Kennetreks. I’ve also had four pairs of Danner’s, this is all in the last three years. Before that I wore mainly Mucks. These boots IMHO are the best I’ve seen. Besides, it’s great to support an American small business and have the ability to have them rebuilt or repaired. I highly recommend these boots.

I have tried all the boots mentioned on your post except for the Hoffman boot. I have a pair of Alico boots and they are probably the best pair of boots by far that I ever owned. However I'm really hard on boots, so it's good to know that there are choice's of quality ones out there.
