With all of the advanced cleaning products on the market today for gun cleaning how many on here still use Hoppes #9 to clean their guns? When I was in 8th. grade and got my first Model 870 I remember that this was the only cleaning product on the market that virtually everyone used.
After rabbit/quail hunting, Mom made clean guns on the back porch. She liked the quail but not the No.9 aroma. Fifty years later, still cleaning guns on the back porch, but still love the aroma of Hoppes No. 9!!

Because of this thread, I went to Wal-Mart and bought a small bottle of Hoppe's #9 bore cleaner.Could not be happier, I was surprised how well it cleaned up the barrel bores on my Beretta 680 combo gun. I wish that they would put it in a aerosol so it would travel better. Lester

Never use Hopps #9 gun bore cleaner whether the old or new synthetic formula to clean your gun if you know anybody that has need to use a bore cleaner tell them to steer clear of Hopps unless they move to one of their Non Toxic formulas Hopps # 9 is super toxic even in a well ventilated area. If you get a good whiff of that stuff about a half hour later you’ll be asking yourself do I need to go to hospital. I’ve read the Material Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet of this stuff. It's basically Toxic Nerve Poison skin contact and Vapor can be deadly. I found out the hard way so don’t use it, throw it out and find another product. Even Break Free CLP is mildly toxic but a lot better. I am switching over to Breakthrough Solvents and Oils, and for gun lube Go Juice which are totally Non Toxic. I’ve looked into Clenzoil as it has superior lubricity for friction wear but the Safety Data Sheet again says to wear nitrile gloves and well ventilated like Break Free CLP so I don’t think I will use those products. I will use Breakthrough and Ballistol which are non toxic from now on and continue to wear nitrile gloves and in a well ventilated area.

Yes, I still use it. Best stuff ever made. My wife loves the smell of it!!!! I love the job it does. My Dad, grand dad and great grand dad used it!!!!!

Me also till I die. Also I tell my wife If she wants me to feel a little sprity just put some #9 0N behind the ears and I'll be all over her.

Oh, by the way. Anybody on here that don't use hoppes the penalty is. That person must buy every person on here a small bottle of Hoppes #9 once a year that is a user.
