I have been thinking for a while about getting a voice release and would like to hear first hand experiences about both. I do want to go with the wireless. Also our club does have skeet also so i was thinking about one that does both trap and skeet. I shoot mostly trap so that will be the primary use. Thank you

The Clay Delay is an excellent unit and is considerably less money than the other one. It can be used for both sports as it comes with two pigtails.
I have been 100% happy with mine and have recommended many other Club Members to get them. ZERO issues and excellent customer service if a question comes up about operation or settings.

I started with the wireless trap model and was very pleased with it’s operation. I recently upgraded to the wireless skeet, trap, and sporting clays elite model. I find it to be an excellent tool for practice when your alone and the transmitters can also be synced together if your shooting with a group. I also have had the opportunity to use and plan on purchasing a wireless squad puller.

About the only difference b/w Vent and CD is Vent has an auto-round feature for skeet, where it automatically cycles to the next target, in other words, you start on station one, it throws a high, then a low, then a pair, and so on, with no user intervention, although you need to override it to shoot a target over (ie your option shot).

The current gen clay delay has auto high-low rearm, you activate the high, it rearms on report for the low, then you'd have to rearm for doubles. Previously (the generation I have) you have to arm the trap for each shot, not a big deal if you load one shell but could be a pain if you load 2.

The CD has auto-rearm for trap, so it's completely a wash for trap.

The only real advantage of the Vent is for skeet, and even then only a minor advantage if you load 2 shells, if you load one shell for singles, put the transmitter on your shell pouch and hit the button when you grab a fresh shell.

The CD is also 1/2 the price of the Vent!

We use a wired microphone system for trap at our club. However for skeet the club has a loaner Vent that I started with when shooting solo. Ultimately purchased a wireless CD unit for skeet, really happy with that purchase. Easy to use, has been dependable and good service when I needed it. Haven't priced the two units recently but I recall more affordable at the time too. Spend a few more bucks for the wireless.

I can see no reason to ever buy a Ventriloquist, when you can get the clay delay at half the price, and it is a fine instrument. I have been using mine for skeet now for about 6 years. Can't imagine life without it.

Definitely get a wireless model, and make sure it has the re-arm function. I shoot 5 boxes of doubles without ever touching the transmitter. Hit the H and L buttons once, and start shooting!!
