Carlson's or Briley choke tubes? Any difference or preference? Thanks for the input!

Briley might be more “premium” but neither is a bad choice IMO. Carlsons have the edge in availability, you can walk into a little gun shop just about anywhere and find their tubes. I’ve pretty much only ever used OEM extended tubes (which are probably manufactured by Carlsons) or Carlsons, that’s mainly because of local availability though. I was thinking about ordering a set of Briley’s to try out.

Having a Carlson extended Mobil choke in the upper and a Briley extended Mobil choke in the lower barrel of my 28 Gauge O/U, I prefer the Carlson for three reasons.

1) The Carlson choke measures spot on to it's advertised constriction, and the Briley is slightly off. This via Telescoping Bore Gage measure.
2) The Carlson fits perfectly, but the Briley is a bit oversize or off in some way in the thread department, and it is a major effort to install and remove it. I thought this might be a function of the threading on my barrels, but reversing them results in the same struggle for the Briley and ease of fit for the Carlson.
3) The Carlson subjectively looks nicer, mainly because it extends farther out, but up close it also appears to be a bit nicer finished, or finished with a bit more care and attention to craftsmanship.

I really like and prefer Briley choke tubes. I use their tubes for a Beretta O/U. I've checked out other brands but have always stuck with Briley. As the above have mentioned, they have great customer service and are very helpful if you have questions regarding their chokes and others. Good luck with your choice.

I’ve had both but prefer the Briley. If you care how they look over time I would stay away from their Spectrum series chokes and stick with the regular extended chokes.
I really like the colors of the different constrictions but the aluminum caps on the end will discolor over time from bore cleaners. Depending what wrench you use they have been known to bend where notched. I had two that were both discolored and bent. Briley was good enough to replace both caps at no charge.
