There is only 1 way to get an accurate answer to your question rather than speculations and conjectures: carefully assemble 10 identical shells using each primer and send them to a ballistics lab like the one at Downrange Mfg. and have them tested for pressure and velocity to see what you're actually going to get when you load them. Them, if they turn out to be acceptable, load them exactly the way you did when you had them tested.

Mike,
You have asked the members of this forum for advise about safely swapping components for a load you like.
MAH66 has offered you great advise that you can follow without having to trust anecdotal information. In fact, if you follow his advise, you can confidently share the results with the forum and we all can learn form what you found.
You are obviously looking at data from Ballistic Products who have a good reputation for shotshell data. You might also give them a call to see what they say.
My only other advise to you is to rely on tested data, rather than the use of unpublished loads from other reloaders.
Good luck
John

Most people that swap Cheddites in place of Winchester primers are loading lead shot you are trying to load Steel shot and that could throw the
pressures all over the place if you are only loading a few boxes for hunting I would buy the right primers if you are loading a large amount then
your better off loading some and have them tested.

I emailed ballistics and this is what they replied back ....

We never recommend substituting primers, however if you choose to use a Cheddite primers in lieu of the Winchester you will probably see less pressure and velocity as the Cheddite primer is a ‘cooler’ primer than the Winchester.

The other thing to look at is the primer size (chart attached). The Cheddite is a larger primer than the Winchester. This may cause the primer pocket to be expanded and in the future may cause you some fit issues if you choose to go back to the Winchester primer forcing you to ‘resize’ all of the primers pocket.
