BT-99 hard to open

I recently bought a really nice BT-99 from a guy from here. It is in really beautiful shape, except that it is soooo tight to open. I shot a round last wed. and I had such a hard time getting it open to eject the empty. I am considering putting it in a vice (with padding) and using Gunslick on the area where the fulcrum is and giving it about 100 open and close action. Is there something else to use besides Gunslick? Or suggestions?

Mine gets like that if I don't keep it cleaned and lubed. After you shoot wipe everything off and even use a q tip to clean inside the breech. Then before you put it back together apply some STOS lube. I and others use several types of lube at the hinge area so the gunslick will work but it's not my first choice. White lithium grease works good too. But you need to do this after every use!!!

Pay attention to lube comments above. Be sure to apply lube to hinge pin as well as forearm to receiver contact areas or galling could occur. Clean old grease off after every outing and reapply. Gun will gradually loosen but will probably require 2000 or more rounds to free up considerably. Do not attempt to file bbl lug youself. If after 2 to 3K rounds if gun is still too tight have a competent smith take a look. If you file bbl lug on a new tight gun before it is broken in and parts properly seated it will probably be loose as a goose long before its time. Marc

Mine was tight for about the first 500 - 1000 rds. After that it was easier to break open. I would never put it in a vise or join the metal butcher club by using a file on it. Clean and lube the contact points. If that does not help, have a competent gunsmith look at it.
