the 1% or so recoil reduction really isnt worth the added expense, plus they are more tedious to clean.

 

Non-Ported, for sure. Those pesky little porting holes do nothing for performance and just get dirty and are a pain if you think you need to clean them. Hint: you don't. Regards, Ed

I have that choke in a light full. I like it very much and it patterns very well. If I had it to do over again, I would order a full. No particular reason other than for me a tighter choke is better. The black is a good option too, as mine gets pretty sooty. I don’t worry about it other than to wipe it off every once in awhile.

Ported likes 7-1/2s better than 8s!! 8s pattern better in a non ported.

 

No ports. Such a pain to clean and you don’t get any benefits from it. Look into Trulock Chokes. In my gun they pattern better than Briley

 

I use Carlson in my BT99, and they work just fine.

If you have a case consider the extra length of the barrel with the choke in it. I have a 34" barrelled BT-99 and a fitted Browing case. The barrel with an extended choke will not fit in the case. If you want to protect the muzzle consider getting a muzzle rest/pad that sits on the ground so you can rest your muzzle on it between shots.

 

I think these questions are crazy to the general population. The benefit, if any, in almost unmeasurable, so I would go with whatever you read or heard and believed.

 

Another vote for Carlson extended tubes. They have always patterned well in my BT 99.

 

I have Carlson's also and they work good!! I'm going to buy a briley full so I have a. 035 constriction. The full Carlson is. 030

The Briley black oxide linked above works in my BT-99. Don't buy into the choke marketing. It's a tube with a constriction consistent with the distance you will be breaking targets. That's it. No other tube is going to be better than other tubes and this has been tested by many people. Buy what you like because you like it, not because its supposed to work better because some marketing literature or people on a forum told you it will.

 

I use Briley's in my Citori with full and modified for doubles, both work great!! I just wasn't sure about the ported chokes which I see now are a pain. thanks
