I need an o/u shotgun suitable for Trap, Skeet and Five Stand. Looking at the Browning Citori CX or XT Trap. The CX seems to be designed as a cross purpose shotgun but is it a better gun for all three disciplines than the XT trap? I am a hobbyist and have no immediate plans to shoot competitively.

Either one will work. An adjustable comb will help. You can shoot anything even sporting clay's.
I sold my XT because I did not shoot skeet well at all with it and sporting clays was just..so..so. I shoot the Crossover now which is the same as the CX and my overall scores are much higher after shooting this gun for the last three years.
I would buy the cheaper CX and have an A.C. cut for it but having shot both I would say you cannot go wrong with either.
I prefer the xt due to the slightly higher rib and parallel comb. If you shoot pre mounted the parallel comb of the xt might be better but if you shoot low gun the sloped stock of the cx might be better. Outside of cosmetics the only real difference is rib height and butt stock so you really can't go wrong with either as they are both great. Shoot both and see which feels better.
The CX is an extremely impressive gun for the money. I know a lot of guys that shoot them very well. The barrel regulation that I've seen has been excellent as well.
