I've always been an oil guy but I think I need to start greasing my choke tube threads. What is the best grease for this application?
Thanks

The purpose of using synthetic oil, grease r any other synthetic is "WHAT' ? Chemistry 1o1.
One of you sez WHEEL BEARING GREASE, THATS GOOD, I CANT GO FURTHER THAN THAT, MAYBE HE JUST DOESNT KNOW or care. He should be
told who ever did the threads did a lousy job but he is cunning enough to use a heaver molecular grease so it works now.
The GERMANS have been using SYNTHETIC OIL SINCE WW11 in their engines and more. NOT USA.
Doesn't your shot gun deserve a good lube? The fine threads in your barrel, LOOK
I have a thin barrel ,the SMITH said, Im an expert, yes he is, but not using thin wall choke tubes. Looking down the barrel from receiver the threads are not deep enough
so the raised edge inside collects anything coming thru it. Sooner or later the threads will wear down cowboy shooting, its all its good for now
and soon the barrel will be cut 1 1/2 inches. BE CAREFUL.

Light oil and clean and remove everytime you shoot and you won't have any problems. If your one who does not change a choke all year then a good grease is the way to go. I clean my chokes and the inside threads of the barrels everytime I shoot, if it's 50 targets or 200. Grease is too messy for me especially shooting sporting clays and your changing chokes multiple times through the shoot.

Take plain old straight 30 weight motor oil and it will do the job.
Slap a sticker on it, in the smallest container you can find, and call it XYZ Gun lube and charge a 5,000% markup, and the world will beat a path to your door.

Any lube will do, just use something, and then periodically remove, clean, relube choke tube .
