Assuming this isn't spam to get 50 posts.....I typically just use Birchwood Casey "Sno" Universal grease. I try to keep my chokes as clean as possible, so if you don't clean your gun and chokes/ choke tube threads often you may require a higher quality more heavy duty grease.

 

Gorilla grease for muzzle loader breech plugs. Withstand the heat and doesn't leach out.

 

I use wheel bearing grease for everything.

Nickel anti-seize...made specifically for stainless steel...dark gray color, not the silver lead/aluminum version.

Ditto on this. I have a tube that's lasted me maybe 20+ years. A little goes a long way.

 

I use CMD on chokes and hinges of my guns holds up great best stuff I have used yet! Zack H

It's ugly, can stain, but doesn't get runny in warm weather. Kolar recommends...

 

Grease is what I use.

 

I just started using Birchwood casey choke tube lube,not the Sno grease. I think there is less tendancy for a tube that used to loosen after 20 or 25 shots to loosen with the new product.

 

No this is not a post to get 50. I thought about anti seize but what I got was muzzle loader breech grease. Didn't know if anyone else was using it on choke tubes. I wasn't aware of the birch wood stuff. So I don't k is the difference between sno grease and choke tube grease.

 

Buy some extended choke tubes. Then, set up your gun case so that you have to remove the choke(s) after your shoots, in order for the barrel to fit in the case. Then lube the choke threads with GI LSA oil, and get yourself a Tico Tool (hopefully a two-piece one) or a Boresnake and pull an oil (LSA) swab through the bore each time. Then wipe the exterior with one of your old t-shirts pretty much soaked in oil. You're ready for the next time.

Sounds like too much work, doesn't it. I do it to unwind after a shoot.

Briley makes a nice lubricant for choke tubes.

Do your maintenance on a regular schedule and all you need is a little oil on the threads.

 

Food grade never seez, vegetable base, no solids. I worked in the film/chemical industry for 37 years as a machinist/pipefitter, never had a thread issue when using it. Have used it since choke tubes came out, never a problem.

I use STOS made by Ponsness Waren.

 

X2 - for over 20 years, same grease used on the hinge points

 

Super lube synthetic, it's clear and won't stain.

 

+1 for Super Lube.
Synthetic, clear, non-staining, and I already have tubes of it for other stuff. Works great on MEC sizer collets.

 

Lucas red grease comes in a tube and lasts for ever.

 

I have been using Pro-Shot choke tube lube. It is also anti seize.

 

I'm using wheel bearing grease. I used lighter stuff in the past and the tube would work loose after 15 or 20 shots - hasn't happened since I switched to synthetic bearing grease.

 

I use the Briley grease on choke tubes and the box lok's on O/U's.

 

Extreme pressure ordnance grease. Somehow I have a lifetime supply.

vanguard is this the one in the syringe? Is it as messy to deal with as auto anti seize?

 

I would say any of the above posts are all good with the exception of silver anti-seize. If you have ever used it you will know that it's just a plain mess and stains everything it comes into contact with. I personally use High-Tech grease by shooter's choice.

Rock and Roll Super Web Bicycle Grease: fill a plastic syringe and apply: available on Amazon). Also excellent on the MEC collet.

An alternate that works well is Slip 2000.

I like Tetra Gun grease

 

Grease won't hurt, but it's messier than oil
Grease is only needed where parts are bearing loads, a few drops of oil on CT threads are sufficient.
It's important to keep the threads clean, on the tube and in the barrel.
What makes you think you need grease as opposed to oil?
