Hello all,

I’m in the market to upgrade the current shotgun which is a Browning citori trap that was manufactured in 1978. I have noticed after shooting about 200 rounds my scores really start to drop off due to the gun not fitting me properly and the 40 year old rock solid recoil pad. I have been able to handle a browning 725 trap and have been looking really hard at the combo that is offered through guns unlimited for about 6k. Having a recoil system and the ability to make full adjustments to fit me seems like a no brainer.
Talking with more fellow shooters at these ATA events they seem to love the k/p guns. I have shot a kolar that had a price tag of 16k, I wasn’t blown away to be honest. I know everyone has their own opinions but what does a gun with a price tag of 10k even into the 20k range get you above the 725 that I have been looking at. I have been averaging 96 in 16 yrd, 89 in handi (21yrd) and a 84 in doubles, just looking for something I can improve with.
Thanks for all your thoughts and opinions.
An offerman is always an option. Bretta combos and the browning are also good options and starters.

Find a gun that fits you. It just amazes me when people say "shoot what you can afford". Shoot what you have confidence in and it fits you. I have worked with plenty of shooters that bought a certain gun because they said "I deserve it as I have worked hard for years and now I can afford it" while their performance has dropped. Some considerably.

We will never criticize any manufacturer, but find the gun that works for you.

People ask us all the time "when will your boys shoot real trap guns?". You know, Brownings are just good introductory or starter guns. They only have a tad over 1 million rounds through their trap guns so we may need to look for something that will last longer. JK on the looking for something else. Brownings work for my sons so they will stick with them. No custom anything, just guns off the rack.

Once you find something that you feel confident with then move forward with it. Adjust as needed. IF gun fit ever becomes and issue then fix it. Go to a gun fitter is needed.

You could have a recoil reducing stock put on, Stock Lock and Pro soft are popular. Even a fitted stock can be a problem when you have reached your recoil tolerance limits?

I've read You're post several times to get an understanding of what You're inquiring about. Looking at You're scores and complaint, (it's a valid complaint), tells Me the gun needs an upgrade, whether it's a recoil system & re-fitting, or the Browning combo. Moving in the direction of a gun many thousands of dollars higher in price will still need to be fitted to You, and, there's still a learning curve to deal with. Nothing whatsoever against the higher end guns, they're fantastic, however, if You're scores don't improve, and they're already pretty good, it might be disappointing.
What do I know, I struggle with My own decisions.......
Shoot well

Ok so what would be perfect about a BT 99 for a guy who shoots doubles and wants to move to a combo gun?? You say you have several Browning 725s what trap models do you have so that you can relate fit--feel and swing performance to the OP???
My bt99 is was ported, had a weighted butt-stock, extractor only...no ejector (empty hulls do not flyout or hit the ground), and had no safety. In short, it was a dedicated trap gun. If I ever got interested in trap again I would not hesitate to buy another BT99. It’s a fine shotgun made for trap. It has a GREAT reputation but What FITS YOU is much more important than make and model. Shoot some different guns and then decide.

I thought OP should consider it.

That's more like it....give a reason behind your suggestion as opposed to nifty one liner.
We are a forum and Explanations for reasons make a difference to the OP seeking information.
