Ridiculous.....

Spolar 12 ga - $4800

20 ga set - $950

28 ga set - $950

410 ga set - $950

Hydraulics - $2500

TOTAL = $10,150

I really don't see them selling too many new sets to 4 gauge shooters!!
At these prices Spolar has to be goofy and anybody that would pay that price has to be a idiot. What are they thinking of ? To only selling two or three per year. I guess it might makes sense if that’s all they can build in a year and are struggling to try to stay in business.

I doubt it’s all company greed. They are just passing the prices onto the consumer I imagine.. Would be nice if they broke down and explained the price jump to justify 60%.

Its like explaining why an Aston Martin costs what it does. Though I doubt that parable would carry much weight with most re loaders. Still people buy Aston Martins & I imagine some will continue to buy Spolars.
Spolar has always been a best foot forward company towards is customers & I agree with LowBrass366 that the increase is the result of 2022 production costs. Still this could be the breaking point for this fantastic loader.

Gouging? Hoarding? Greed?

These words get tossed around like the word racist does. We have had a rise of inflation of 27.3% in the last ten years. Inflation has risen 69.7% since 2000. Stop for a second and think about that. We are always going to be paying high prices for things until people understand what really drives high prices and it is not all greed, hoarding or gouging.

I agree with you about Spolar being a great outfit, but I also agree with this might be the beginning of the end. An Aston Martin is a real status symbol, but it is hard to tell reloads from other good machines from each other. There are very few products that will do well after a 60% price increase at a time when money is already very tight.

There are other very good loaders out there that you can own for much less money.

I hope I am wrong as I own the 4 gauge setup with the hydraulic drive and it works well for me.

Best of luck to Spolar and all the good people that work there.

If you don't like the price, don't buy one. It isn't as if they are pricing you out of electricity or running water.

I'm always intrigued by people who profess to adhere to the tenets of capitalism and then complain about free market pricing.
Actually its California that's pricing every homeowner in the state out of electricity & running water.
My Spolar, really glad I bought when I did. Expensive but worth every penny. If production ever stops I'm sure my Spolar be still be running for years to come.

If they ever went out of business, the best thing that could happen to them would be for MEC to buy out the product line.

Have you ever looked at all the stuff MEC makes other than the outdoors line? They could produce the same loader at a fraction of the cost, just due to their size. They would just need to commit to keeping the same quality standard.

Sure hope all is well with Spolar. It would be nice to think it will run for years to come. Problem is when something does break where we will get parts?

[/QUOTE] It had better be because you are going to have a hell of a time trying to find parts. What do you think will happen to the value of your $4800 reloader when that happens? You may as well use it as a door stop.

That's a fairly hefty jump. But the market will dictate whether it's fair or not.

Who ever thought that owning a Spolar was an appreciating asset? If I could sell a used Spolar for 70% of a new one then owning one has the potential to be profitable.
