Winchester Super Target

Just for my own curiosity... speaking of the factory loaded shells here. I see lots of folks talking about shooting Remington Gun Clubs, Federal Top Guns and all the variations of them for "second level under Premium loads". Not much said about Winchester Super Targets. Yes, they're steel based. So are the other two brands. I understand many reloaders don't like the hulls for reloading because of base wads or hull life. That's fine, I reload mostly AA HS hulls 'cause that's what I've got. I justify the expense of the AA shells by reloading them and have no interest in reloading Super Targets, Gun Clubs or Top Guns. I do however sometimes shoot the "second levels" at 16's and doubles and pitch the hulls or give them to someone that wants them. According to the handy dandy chart published on this site showing shot hardness of varying loads and lead brands, Winchester Super Targets have the hardest shot of the three brands. Is there a silent majority shooting Super Targets or did I miss a reason to shun them??

Winchester Super Targets are very popular in Western Canada. No one around here buys Remington Gun Clubs because Remington makes no effort whatsoever to market them in Canada; the lead shot in them is too soft for Handicap anyway. I use Federal Top gun or Super Targets for registered shoots. I gave up on reloading because of the cost of components especially lead shot.

For me, the best second level shell on the market. I have plenty of other right now but waiting for Academy to run their 20% promotion to buy a bunch more for the season. Absolutely will not buy guns clubs as have never shot them well. I do agree though, that it seems less people shoot them now as compared to 10 or so years ago.

Last batch I had wasn't a problem getting them out of the gun, it was getting them in it. Three or four out of every box had a cocked was or looked like it got ran over. Been using the estate tan box shells and not having problems. It's a shame cause I like the super targets but just like gun clubs q. c . Got to be a problem.

I won a case of the 3 dram 1 1/8 at a shoot one time, so I tried them for handicaps and shot them amazingly I ended punching a full yard.
I think the Win super target and the Estate Super Sport are the best lower end shell their is.
I have never patterned them I have just shot my best scores with them.
Do you prefer one over the other, and were you shooting 7.5 or 8's. Also from what yardage did you shoot for handicap? I am thinking about trying some of the promotional shells.
