Your favorite rifle caliber for deer

    Under most conditions, my .243 works fantastically. If I am hunting from the ground with lots of tall grass or small brush around, then the 30-30 goes with me. I don't have any scientific evidence to quote, but it seems like the rounded nose of the 30-30 bullet can handle small obstacles and stay pretty true. Both guns drop a deer in two seconds or less with decent shot placement.

    25/06 lots of variety of bullets and weights, bought my first one in Blairstown Missouri from John Wall and killed many a deer while stationed at Whiteman working on the B2, Remington 700 stainless , has taken its fair share of hogs and MLD does in Texas!!!
