When I had a Marlin 95 in the 80s my best hunting load was 37 grs 2400, 300gr fp, LRP, this was about 2000 fps. Ive taken 7 deer, 3 bear, 5 elk & 1 moose with that load. I also used a Williams reciever peep site on my gun.
Another load was using IMR 4198 at about 1900 fps. Its been a long time since I sold that gun and don't recall the actual powder charge.
Also just about any load over 1700 fps is going to be felt on the shoulder and the 2000 fps is not a plinking load....
Brass can be found at Cabellas, Sportmans Warehouse and most other shops as well as bullets.
What gun do you have since that will set your parameters on your loads.
I have 45-70 brass, bullets, and dies if you are interested. Send me an email and I can get you an inventory. I have a bunch of dies and brass (308, 32-40, 7x57, 30-06, 38-55, 6mm, and some others) too.
