First let me say this is a want vs a need. I have a browning pro trap and am thinking of trading it on a Trap Max. The reason is the adjustable rib and adjustable lop. Now the other alternative is to purchase a add a rib for about 200.00 and have a adjustable lop for about 250. saving me a load of money. Now for the advice part...which way would you go, if me...thanks.

I'm thinking that you may have answered your own question.

Go with what you really want. If it were me, I would avoid the add a rib. I just don't like how it looks. So, is the adjustability that important? The Pro Trap is a good gun. How well do you shoot it?

In the wonderful world of trap, not well. Still moving in that direction.

I don't see either being mandatory to improve your shooting, especially if you're still figuring it out. Anytime I've had an adjustable rib gun I set it the first time and never mess with it again. The LOP depends on your climate I guess, winter vs summer clothes. But two pads can take care of that. Your best return on your money might be lessons or at the very least buy Leo's DVD's they're worth every penny.

Never get need and want confuse. It is only money you can't take it with you so enjoy while you can.

The real truth is you can't buy a good trap score, by spending money on a fancy gun. Make sure the gun you have, fits you, then go practice. I just shot a 25 straight on our continental trap with an old 20 gauge 1100, full size frame, and a fixed mod choke barrel. The way it is set up, it fits me, and it shoots where I look.

Totally agree, and realize you can’t buy accuracy after a certain level. Thanks for the advise

I would look at the trap max if it was me. I looked at them at the grand and i really liked.

Keep at it. You will improve. May I suggest two things:

    1. See a competent gunsmith/fitter. Make sure your current gun fits you. They may even give you advice

    2. Take a class from a good/great coach. That will hopefully/definitely sort you out

That way, you can see what you really need before making a potentially premature and expensive change

Buy ammo and targets until you shoot what you have good. Then you might know what you need.
