What's the minimum barrel thickness required for installing chokes?

And how much it'll cost? (NOT from a high-end-famous barrel smith)
This is not a competition gun, it's a used old gun donated to the boy scout shooting program.

Any information would be appreciated.

Depends on what type of chokes you want installed.

If you're talking bare minimum for ANY choke, Tru-Choke Thinwall is .805 Min OD .730 Max ID

Briley might be able to go thinner, although probably not by much since the tru-choke thinwalls only have .0375" wall thickness.

Mike Orlen in MAX will do it for $123.85 with 3 chokes (list price), so figure bare minimum $150 all in including shipping both ways to have it done.

From Carlson's web site:

MINIMUM OUTSIDE BARREL DIAMETER MEASUREMENTS FOR CHOKE INSTALLATIONS:
12 ga. lead shot and steel shot system 0.825
12 ga. lead shot system only, no magnum loads or steel 0.805
