No really I've used quite a variety. I love the essence of G96 so Am prone to using it even I have more modern and chemically effective in the house. These include Clenzoil, Slip2000, Q20, etc.

Using these for years. The jar has an oil/solvent soaked felt pad under the wiping chamois, and you can buy bottles of fluid to rejuvenate it. Cost is low wnough I can have several around.

I just carry an oily rag in a zip-loc baggie. What's on the rag? Dunno. Whatever is cheap and handy. 30W non-detergent? Maybe just a little. But while I'm not particular what oil goies on the blued surfaces, I am religious about always wiping it down after use.
