What do you all think about a guy loaning his gun with a SoftTouch stock to another "shooter", then that "shooter" without the owners permission takes the SoftTouch stock to another guy who makes a competitive recoil system and he takes out the SoftTouch cylinder (which was working at the time) and puts in an air cylinder and modifies the SoftTouch parts to fit it. Then when the original owner finally gets his gun back he is forced to bring the stock back to our shop for repairs and to buy a new SoftTouch cylinder because the butchered recoil system just doesn't work.

Is this just wrong in so many ways or does anyway have a different prespective?

What was the point of the whole thread? Was somebody going to say there was
nothing wrong with doing that? Was the thread supposed to shame somebody into
re-imbursing the owner for the repairs? Is this an attack against someone who
is intruding on your business?

I have a different perspective. This is between the owner of the gun and the guy he loaned it to.

Absolutely its fine, that is why your product carries a warranty. Isn't it?? Warranty can = fixing other people's screw ups for free.

I'm just BS-in you.

Since nobody else thinks this wrong, I just wanted to play Devil's Advocate.

Its absolutely wrong and the guy who did that to the owner's gun is no friend.

However, how do you know you are not being told a story by the owner who may have screwed it up himself? Sorry, its that Devil's Advocate thing again.

P.S. I have shot a soft-touch and they are soft, I don't know why anyone would want to copy or revinvent the so- called wheel, when you got it right the first time. By the time a guy figures out how you made it and machines all of it, I really doubt if it could be done cheaper.

It wasn't on you soft, and you don't know if the idiot was telling you the truth or covering his butt. In any case, you have the parts and expertiece to put it back to specs. Just charge the dope what it costs, without any "customer appriciation" discount, and hope he never returns.

best....mike

I re-read the opening post. Heck, its theft or at least conversion on the part of the competitor and so called friend for removing the soft touch cylinder and replacing it with something else. The guy should contact the police and file criminal charges against the friend and the competitor, unless they want to pay for all of the damages and losses.

I've been eagerly awaiting the inevitable "other side of the story", but apparently, there isn't one.
