Actually the bayonet shown is a dress bayonet and can not be attached to a rifle. The purpose of this bayonet was to be worn with dress uniform. There were many variations of the dress bayonet short or long and could be purchased with a number of different blade etchings. When I collected daggers of the third Reich I had many variations of the dress bayonet.

The bayonet shown is not a police bayonet. Police bayonets were completely different.

It looks to me like Third Reich Youth dress bayonet

Appears to me to be an altered k98 bayonet. It looks like someone cut off the barrel ring and filled in the mounting slot. It may be post war. Regards, Bob
