Thanks to our area shooters and some unexpected out of state visitors, our 2013 trap year numbers are up 15% so far.

There are a lot of factors, some of which we don't control, but we have focused a lot of effort on publicity, youth shooters, and direct outreach to anyone with a shotgun in hand, and it seems to be paying off.

We have a local 501c(3) that raises money for juniors and sub-juniors; we run releases in the local paper; send scores to the local paper; had local TV coverage of our Labor Day shoot, post upcoming shoots on trapshooters.com, and when possible post programs etc on the ATA website. We've added new options for all handicap events, and thanks to our shooters, we have pretty good participation in our special events. We have a website of our own [how any club survives these days without a website is a mystery]. Thanks to the TTA we even have a booklet for new shooters that explains the ATA registration process, classes, etc.

We have stubbed our toe to be sure - some target problems this year [we spend much more time trying to maintain our traps, where we battle many more chips, dust, etc than in years past], we have been up and down on our trophy offerings, had some late starts, etc. Hopefully we continue to identify those issues, though. Registration at our last few shoots has been much better, we had nice buckles at our Labor Day shoot. etc. We are really trying to learn from our mistakes.

Plans for spring include landscaping, machine upgrades, concrete work, etc.

But the good news to spread to all is that it IS possible to grow our numbers. We have had our ups and downs, but new shooters ARE out there.

Thanks to all the shooters who made 2012 a good year for our club. We are really optimistic we will have a great 2013. Keep growing our sport - take someone to a shoot with you!

Good for you guys....it's good that your not sitting on your hands maintaining the status quo. It's a lot of work, but worth it.

15% from all operations?! Can you break out registered results v. practice?

Congrats on an "up" year regardless,
