A friend of mine was asking around the gun club last night if anyone knew how to make walnut wood stain out of real walnuts. No one knew, so I told him I would ask on T/S because there are some real smart people on this site. Help me out.

a good grade of varnish stripper will usually get most of it with the finish. then sand it good and get to the original wood.

In days of old, I scratched my aunt's new dining room set. AA fan fell and scraped across the wood. After she relaxed, the got a few walnuts (walnut meats) and rubbed them into the scrape. It took a few applications, but the color watched perfectly. Since then I've actually used nut meats (usually walnut) - to impart color on small projects.
