Am looking at a Hastings 12 ga. 30" VR barrel for a Rem. 870.Never having seen a Hastings wad lock barrel I at first thought it had steel shot damage running full length I.D. but not into the choke tube. There are 12 evenly spaced lines/grooves down the barrel. Is this a WadLock barrel? Are choke tubes still available now that Hasting is no longer in business? Thanks again.

Yes that is a wadlock barrel. It has 12 straight lans and grooves that supposedly improves your pattern by preventing the wad from beginning to spin. Some however will tell you that this is a myth, that wads cannot spin. Aftermarket chokes are available from Carlson (and maybe others). Use Google to find Carlson's web site.

You can buy factory flush Hastings chokes from Hastings. Though the barrels aren't being made anymore, the U.S. distributor is still selling barrels and chokes. Find them on the internet. Extended chokes are available from Carlsons and Trulock.

A very good barrel. Hard to say how much the grooves improve the pattern.
