I have a new-in-the-box Remington 597 VTR CS that I bought in December 2009. I have someone local interested in buying it, but I'm not sure what the current value is. I think I paid around $450-$500 new. I can't find where Remington is manufacturing them anymore, so I'm not sure if the value has gone up, down, or stayed the same. Any one know the market? I cannot seem to find any comparable sales online or even any listings. If I sell, just trying to be fair to everyone. Thanks for the help.

There's one for $333.99 starting price on gunstroker with no bidders.

And several of the fixed buttstock version that aren't moving either, priced from $350 to $420.

Sorry to dash your hopes, but it is not a popular gun. Most people wanting a tactical .22 either went for the more reliable S&W MP15-22, a dedicated AR15 upper, or the Ruger SR-22 with the proven 10-22 action.

In my opinion if anyone offers you $300 grab the money and run.
