hello all. a while ago i was reading an article in Trap & Field regarding the nicknames that are given to trapshooters for certain things that they do. Such as someone blowing the smoke out of the end of their barrel after every shot. It was just a bunch of funny nicknames. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this article and if they have access to a copy of it somewhere if you could tell me where to locate it. Thanks again.

It would be an interesting/funny article to read.

Any idea if anyone was nicknamed Squibb? I know a few who swear by there reloads that more than deserve that nickname more than a few times a round.

No, I'm sorry, I never read the artical. I just want to comment on the nick name thingy. Most of the guys I played High School football with called me "The Jingerbread man" You remember the little story or rime. "Run, Run, As fast as you can, You Can't catch me, I'm the Jingerbread man." That's how I got that nick name. Because I was the fastest man in our school and I was the 5th. fastest man out of 8 High Schools in our area. But There was this one guy from another school who clamed to be "The big Bad Wolf." Ok, as the story goes the wolf eats the Jingerbread man. But in this case he never did catch me. I was a Sophomore then to. It finally got whittled down to "Breadman" for many years after that. Rich. (inPeoria,Az.)

He was to busy running away from everyone to learn how to spell.

If it had been me I would have kicked there arses if they had called me GingerBread but I guess he had to run away.

I attended a clinic put on by Frank Little and it was a real sight watching him blow the smoke out of his barrels after each and every shot. It was such an ingrained habit that I don't think he even realized he was doing it. I also shot with Earl Scripture many years ago in Tucson and he always smelled his Federal paper hull after every shot. After shooting Federal papers I could understand why. They smelled sooo good....Dan Thome (Trap2)

I haven't seen the article, but here are a few you could use:

Blow hard. (blowing the smoke from the barrels)

Flincher. (Obvious)

Pokey. (For someone who pokes their guns at the target).

Barker (For those extra-special callers)

The Pirate (one-eyed shooter)

Frogger (for the guy in Tucson that jumped up when he shot)

KFC (for people that have their elbow pointed at the sky when they shoot...like a wing)

There can be so many more, but I've gotta get outta here. The club is having a league shoot tomorrow, and I have to help get everything cleaned up and ready.
