Hello everyone, I am attending the 2016 Iowa State Shoot with my mother. To be straight with you all, she doesnt want to be at a trapshooting event all day and wants to do other fun things in the area. We were both wondering if there was anything fun or time consuming that was in the area near Cedar Falls.
Thanks everybody

Chase, all kinds of things to do in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. I'm sure some of the locals will chime in with some suggestions.

You'll like the shoot, great place and great people.

I've lived in Florida all of my life, but have traveled to over 20 different states on hunting trips. Iowa is by far my favorite for Whitetail deer and the people there are great! Sorry I can't give you any advice as far as things for your mom to do while you are there in the Cedar Rapids area, but I've got to believe you can do a little research on the internet and come up with some ideas.

I lived in Cedar Rapids, IA for 13 years. I can tell you that other than hunting, there is nothing to do in Iowa.
What about bowling, drinking beer and $ex?

Isle Casino, Cedar Falls has a great public owned water complex (hot in July), also there is a private owned large water park if you have an early afternoon.

Don't know what your Mom likes, but since you aren't getting any serious help, tell her to;

Spend a few hours on Main Street in Cedar Falls, wander through the 30+shops & eateries and enjoy the old time feel.
Visit the Hearst Center for the Arts & Sculpture Garden. Cedar Falls.
The Cedar Falls Historical Society has six museums to tour, all within walking distance of each other.
If she likes to ride, take a bike and tour the Metro Trails, 85 miles of paved trails around parks, lakes, praries and waterways.
Isle of Capri Casino in Waterloo.
Waterloo Center for the Arts.
Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanical Gardens.
Crossroads Mall in Waterloo.
There's much more, but it's a college town too, so there are ton's of bars and eateries. Tell her to have a good time.

Chase. You I am from Wi. so I am not really up on Iowa. Go to tripadvisior.com and put in Cedar Falls and Waterloo. I have found this site to be a lot of help when I go to a new area.

Many folks enjoy going to the club and watching Hauxfan. His gas-passing is a thing to behold. He can mimic the squeeky tweet of a Tufted Titmouse, the rolling rumble of a kettle drum, and he often caps it off with a sudden thunderclap which raises him 9 inches off his lawn chair and makes the hair of audience members stand straight up.
