The Minnesota Youth Shotgun Association held the first of five chain shoots for youth only Sunday. It was a cold and blustery start, but warmed up nicely just after we finished shooting for the day.
We wish to thank Jeff Hoppes and Randy Luth for the great accommodation's and use of the facilities. It worked out fantastic and we will be back.
A fun story, the grandson of Arla Kubasch, Sawyer, shot for the first time yesterday escorted by his dad and two uncles. His dad Travis brought the Pre- Sub to the shoot to try the gifted gun from his late Grandma. Nick Kubasch, his uncle had the gun refitted by Pat Gottberg for Sawyers use.
Sawyer won first place for Pre-Subs!! This of course follows a long line of Kubasch wins with both Chad and Mick (Uncles) being former Minnesota State Singles Champions and Dad, whom doesn't shoot registered a Crack shot also.
Thanks to Jim Kubasch for gifting the gun to Sawyer and for allowing Sally and I the opportunity to see history start anew again.
We gave away a historic bag to another young shooter yesterday, donated by the Harold Ibach family. Harold passed away several years ago and the Souix Indian shoot has ceased but Harold had won the bag for 1st place in 1978 at the Deltone Gun Club. This youth shoot was done in memory of all the Minnesota Shooters whom have passed recently. This was their Memorial shoot!!
Next Minnesota Youth Chain Shoot and Aim Zone shoot also is Waverly Gun Club Saturday May 11th. Hope to see you there. You can find out more about the MN. Youth Chain Shoot by our web site MinnesotaYSA.org
Mark Stevens and Sally Stevens, Minnesota Youth Shotgun Association President (MySa)
Special thanks to Tami Berg, Cindy Townsend and Dave Smith for the help and assistance yesterday at this shoot and for a $60.00 gift card donated by Deltone Luth Gun Club for students. Jeff also donated the free lunch for all shooters.
