Super x 1 doubles question

I know people don't like autos on the line for doubles, I wish we were all squared together than we could just fling shells at each other lol.. I have a super x 1 auto I'd like to shoot some doubles.
So my question is has anyone made a homemade deflector??

My other question is what cause the shell to eject? Is it the spring on the gas tube? I've only shot 2 rounds of doubles by myself and only had 1 issue the second shell did not load. I clean my religiously I'm just wondering if I'm missing something?

Mark, thanks for the link to the photo. Unfortunately, I am not "seeing it." It being"... the SX-1 deflector fits between the front of the receiver and the forearm wood..."

All I see is what appears to be a piece of metal sandwiched between the barrel and receiver from above the middle of the bolt/ejection port.

What am I missing here?

Deflectors rarely work as advertised. If I you know how a hull is ejected, you can understand why. The extractor hooks onto the rim and the bolt pulls the hull into the chamber. The base of the hull then hits the ejector which spins the hull out of the chamber. So any modification to that process through some type of deflector is problematic. It somehow had to redirect that spinning hull to a specific location. Not so hard as to hit the shooter next to you, not so soft as to fall back into the chamber. If you get it to work, it generally will require that you always use the same load.

The metal deflector pictured directly under the SX-1 is the way to go. I've used one for several years and have had not problems with it at all. I've also used the one pictured on the SX-1. It's purpose was to catch a single shell so you could just put it in your bag. The metal one does a fine job of deflecting empties away from the other shooters and allows you to shoot doubles.
