Need opinion on how important is it using a bbl made for steel shot?--I'm of the thought that the shot stays in the wad till it leaves the bbl---Any facts will be [email protected]
There have been credible reports of steel shot damaging "tight" chokes (Full, IM?) even when contained in a proper made-for-steel wad. Fewer problems reported with more open chokes. -Ed
George: It will be best for you to contact the manufacturer of the shotgun you want to use with steel shot. For example, Browning will say NO to use of steel in all its Belgian shotguns, OK for the Japanese made if I remember correctly. Doubles, especially older side by sides with soldered ribs, are at great risk with steel loads. Hope this helps, Ed
