I thought I read if the purchaser was from a surrounding state it was an issue. I could be wrong though.Wasn't there some issue with non-IL residents buying shells at the Sparta Walmart but OK at the shell house on the grounds?
Just for the record, if you buy multiple flats from the shell house and would like/need assistance, they will send a young lad with your purchase on a dolly to your transportation. They will also load into your transportation if necessary.Everyone else can buy at the shell house on the grounds.
Prior to last year (or maybe the year before) you could buy shells at Wal-Mart even if you were not from a neighboring state. The state law always said you could buy shells at the event. They just changed what the definition of the event was. Now it is the actual event (on the grounds) instead of the event at Sparta which included Wal-Mart. Even so, the shell house on the grounds will have almost the exact same price. They normally are 1 or 2 dollars a flat higher. Not worth driving to town for and definitely not worth buying an out of state hunting license for unless you are buying 50 flats or something.
Crazy high. I admit I usually don't pay that much attention to what the sales tax actually is. I recently made a tool purchase here in IL. The sales tax was clearly marked out at 8.5%. F'n thieves they are. What is there sells tax?
The rules changed in 2015.I was at the Grand in 2014 and bought shells at Wally and did not buy a hunting license.
Did they actually change or were they just enforced the way they were written ?Wasn`t there some discussion that they were not properly enforced ?The rules changed in 2015.
