"There are a ton of them within 10-15 minutes, depends on your preference in a hotel."
Unless things have changed a lot in the last couple of years, this is not true. I did not go in 2009-10, after attending 2004-2008. There was new residential construction out near the National Shooting Complex, and a shopping mall, but no motels then. Most years I stayed at the Red Roof Inn near Culebra, as did many other shooters including Leo Harrison. The price was reasonable (ask for the shooter discount) and the rooms were clean, but it was about a thirty minute drive from the NSC. The drive was opposite to the majority of the traffic, outbound in the mornings, inbound in the late afternoon. I've read some who posted about guns being stolen from the Culebra neighborhood motels, but I never had a problem. On the other hand, I never left mine unattended in the car or motel room either.
