Will a S&W Model 1000 with 3" chambers accept spare barrels with 2 3/4" chambers. Thank you for the help.

I had a S&W 1000M and used a 2 3/4" slug barrel on it. I believe you're fine going with shorter chamber on the barrel than the action of the gun.

your bbl extension/ejector postion will be too short and may effect ejection.
and too...do you really want to set yourself up for an accident by havinga 2 3/4" bbl on a 3" gun and forget?

If you have the super model (not the M) you can shoot 2 3/4 & 3 in shells interchangeably without doing a thing. I have one & can stuff a 2 3/4 - 1 oz load in there & follow with a 3 in mag. no problem, best of the early guns to be able to do that. Shame they quit marketing it. Mossberg sold that gun for a few years after S & W dropped the line. Made in Japan by Howa. Not too sure about the barrel switch though. I would just shoot here as she is. Colonel
