If you can afford a change in pressure +/- 2500-3000 psi, then go ahead and substitute any primer you want.

You don't say what powder you are using but one approach would be to use data calling for a Fed 209A primer, considered by many to be the "hottest" primer available.

 

I’m gonna build on Nebs reply and say find a recipe for a FED209A primer that use’s a straight wall hull. Lower pressures that are traditional to straight wall hulls will help you stay safe while trying to use up those primers.

on a side note, in the metallic reloading world, I had always heard CCI primers were hotter than most as being the primary primer for mil loads. Interesting that in the shotgun world it is different. What does the "m" he mentioned designate?

There are 2 CCI 209 primers, the regular CCI 209 and the hotter CCI 209M, where the "M" likely stands for "magnum." In terms of "hotness," the CCI 209M is on a par with the Fed 209A.

 

I’m wouldn’t bother trying to work up a load for $6 worth of primers, I’d just give or trade them to someone already using CCIs.
