Can someone give me an opinion of a Sig 357 for carry. Seems they would be a good one. I know little about carry guns, but I want to have one that will get the job done.

Casing is essentially a 40 S & W necked down to a 9 mm diameter bullet (0.355 inches). They idea was to push a 125 grain bullet to the speeds of a 357 magnum round.

It is one of the gentlest shooting pistol rounds I have fired, great accuracy and reliability is increased due to the bottleneck case.

Any 40 S & W gun can shoot the 357 SIG round - just need another barrel...

357SIG will work fine.

In the Panic of '08 just about the only thing on the shelf was 357SIG.

So I bought a 357SIG barrel for my .40S&W XDm.

357SIG and .40S&W use the same magazines.

Generally all you need to do to convert from one to the other is a properly chambered barrel.

So you kind of get two guns for the price of one (plus an extra barrel.)
