You might be able to achieve what you want using a product called "Rat Grip".

This pic below IS NOT MINE however, it shows what you can do with the product. It is supposed to be removable and leave no permanent marks or damage. I have never used it personally.

A local stockmaker added this piece of buffalo horn to the short (for me) grip on my Beretta.



Those little blond lines along the mating edge of the extension are from normal coloration of the horn, not chips or cracks although they do resemble that. The bottom of the extension has a lot of the same coloration visible. The extension really made the stock more comfortable and gave me a feeling of having more control of the gun. Any contrasting piece of wood could be shaped to fit and attached with an adhesive to the grip once it has been machined perfectly flat as mine had to be.

Ed, that buffalo horn looks nice.
