I’ve occasionally been known to use a SxS for doubles. Then it’s right barrel first (0.016”choke and 0.024” in left barrel). Both fixed chokes.

Most of your older fixed choke guns were mod. Bottom and imp. Mod or full top barrel
Thats why most people shoot bottom first

I shoot top/bottom. I shoot a top single for sngs/caps. I don't have worry about changing the trigger between events. I found it easier to adjust the top barrel POI with the comb, then the bottom barrel POI with the barrel hangers.

My new Browning PRO Trap, has an issue that makes me shoot the top barrel first. The top barrel shoots about 90/10 and the bottom barrel shoots about 50/50 or 60/40. So I have to shoot the top barrel on the raising target (first one), and then the bottom barrel because the targets have leveled off or are dropping. I tried it the other way and could never hit a 2nd target. My old O/U had fixed chokes and I shot the bottom and then the top but both barrels shot about the same spot.

I agree. Find out your poi. If one barrel shoots higher then shoot that one first.

I was always told the bottom barrel had more inline recoil so there is less rise after the first shot, helping you get on the second more quickly. I'm sure someone here will let me know whether that's correct or not.
