I have used them for the past 5 years or so. I think it helps keep my focus looking forward instead of side to side.

I've never used them, Steve. However, I took a Nora Ross clinic at my club and she changed my mind on that topic. A very sensible lady - even if your eyes don't pay attention to what's happening in the periphery (hard focus on the house) - your brain does. The distraction is slight, but it's there and it will cost targets at some point. That's hard for me to argue with.

I have some I ordered coming in today. Only cost a few dollars. Though I would give them a try.I do realize it will be very obvious when I am looking at women now. Best example of being in focus I could come up with.

I do most of the time, smoke from the squads guns going off blows sideways at times, glare, wind, rain, sun rising or setting sun all causes issues. At night in shootoffs they stop the glare from the lights behind you. On a real hot humid day they will make you sweat more I do not always use them.

I wear them because when is my turn to shoot, I avoid seeing the jerk to my left throwing a fit because he missed his shot and the idiot on my right mounting his gun the same time I do..

I have always used them, in fact I have extended them about 1 1/2" because the angle that I stand on I could still see movement to my right, I like to see only the house and the field, it's hard enough to maintain focus without added distractions IMHO

Years ago I did not use them, shooters didn't dance around and raise gun like they do now. Also helps with sun, wind, dust and rain. They are definetly hot to wear, but worth it.

They do make blinders without fur covering.


I used to make them out of shot shell boxes. I bought some soft leather ones about 10 years ago and they are still holding up strong.

I bought these not too long ago and I like them. They clip on to your hat brim and don’t interfer with your shooting glasses. In summer you can clip them on a visor to stay cooler. They work well with a regular ball cap. They are easy to install and remove.

I would really like to find some oversized pairs that extend far forward, especially the one on the left side.
Being left handed I am usually looking into the sun in the afternoon on north facing fields ... no good

Always wear them while shooting trap. I can't speak for the other shotgun games. They help prevent wind, rain, snow and sun from creeping in from the side. Also, very obviously, blinders prevent you from seeing the dancing the people next to you are doing. If you think you can really block all the distractions out, I think you are kidding yourself. The is a reason they put them on draft horses.

Ask Claude Hemsi where he got his. They stick 3+ inches forward.

I Make them from some stiff black plastic , most recently from the back of a notebook cover, can make them any size you want…
