Does California have any regulations on shipping loaded shotshell ammo into the state? Can a private indidvidual ship ammo to another private ind in CA or does it need to go to an FFL holder? Thanks.

there are no regulations/provisions for shotgun ammo at all. the Legislature did
pass AB962 which deals with handgun ammo, but that's being challenged and apparently doesn't really ban the shipping if the carrier asks for identity.

more info here.

i.e. if you sell handgun ammo to someone in CA, and you ship it UPS, ups will have to check for identification.

There is a lot of FUD due to some local ordinances. The buyer should know if they are affected. If they are not in the City of Los Angeles or San Francisco, they should be OK.

I don't think the Commiefornia law goes into effect until February 1, 2011. Ammo that will fit in a pistol will be effected. It may include all sizes that have had been used in "specialty pistols". They are still working on that. Like .270, .223, 30/30, 30/06, 357 Roberts, .410 shot shells etc., etc.. HANG ON, THE LIST WILL BE DEVASTATING FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE AMMO SHIPPED TO THEM. Remember: the "Dumb-ocrates" are in charge.
