My experience was just the opposite. I used a metal TS clip for a long time but finally it gave way. Plastic was the only type available. That thing would jam the bolt and make it almost impossible to clear the action after firing a shot. Finally found a new metal TS and have had no problems. Maybe the rejection port on my, rather old, 1100 is just a bit smaller or maybe the plastic catcher was just a bit oversize but in either case, the plastic one did not work well for me.

get the metal T&S and put a piece of electrical tape on the inside of it and it will not mar your receiver.

Heard Birchwood Casey is now making the old T&S catchers..I have an old T&S and one of their wire type both work well

It seems the metal T& S shell catchers are gone never to return. The plastic ones only need a little sanding off the top edge and the bolt handle clears it with no problem.
