I could only shoot singles saturday morning, shoot seemed to be very well ran and for a weekend shoot very well attended, I would guess about 80 to 100 shooters the weather was cloudy and windy, don't know about scores as I shot and left. Butler
Wife and I went down and shot on Saturday. Everything went really well as far as we could tell. The facility is first rate, has a dinning area with great food and even better prices, and I would guess at least 100 shooters for the singles. Only thing we didn't much care for is the main building is on the near end as you drive in, and the traps start from there and go a LONG ways. We shot on field 10 and then 14, and it was to far to walk back to the clubhouse so we drove. Younger people my not feel the same. Shade areas built between each pair of traps with a bench, cold drink machine and water faucet.
The folks that ran the shoot did real well...if you didn't know it was their first shoot you would have never known. We left for home Sunday as it is a 6 1/2 hour drive, and I fear the shooters may have had some rain to deal with. Long ways to go, but we will go again for sure. Next time I won't leave the camera home. GaryL.
I pre-squaded for saturday, made the trip and didn't shoot as the cold rainy weather and that nasty wind pretty well did me in. The wind was what kept my gun in the case. Being 74 and with physical problems shooting saturday just wasn't in the cards. If you have not been to the new shooting park in North Las Vegas I urge you to go. The facility is one of the finest you will find. The range is absolutely beautiful, well laid out and it appears Clark County Recreation Department was not bashfull in spending money. They have 24 trap and skeet fields all lined in a row, ample parking for a lot of cars and their RV parking is also one long line. The main building is well laid out with more than ample eating facilities. Lots of tables and chairs plus a large patio is super nice. Breakfast was excellent and the people working the shoot were excellent as well. I believe their next ATA is scheduled for January 22 and 23. With health and weather cooperating I'll be there. I knew it was the dessert, it was a ha-ha due to past posts about Sparta.
The first year (or two) Sparta looked just about like the Vegas setting.
No grass & no trees & lots of people complaining about it. We have grass now but I don't think I'm going to live long enough to sit under the trees they planted. Colonel
