I'm trying to restore my Dads shotgun, a Savage 775a. 12 ga. The reciever is cracked. I'm interested in a reciever or possibly the entire gun, for the right price. Thanks for your help. Please pm me with any possibles.........B
The 720 was the one that looked like the A-5, but all of the Savage long recoil guns are very similar. The 775 is just a bit more streamlined, like what Remington did with the 11-48. Savage 720, 740, 726, 745, 755....etc are almost all alike.
Yup, Tron is spot on. I also have the 720, Grandpas gun. A-5 clone with solid rib. I've already had it restored. Mechanically all are very similar to the A-5. I shot my first duck with Dad's 775 while Grandpa, long past walking creeks, waited in the car. Forty five years ago...good memories.
775's have the rounded receiver and a type of engraving or etching made from an alloy(aluminum)? Hunter&ducks on one side and pheasants on the other. Inherited from my dad when he passed in 1985. Very light/flat shooter. Dennis
