I am in a sleeving project and need to remove the magazine ring from an 870 barrel. However, I am at a loss because I don't know how it is attached. I would rather not saw it off, so what kind of heat do I need to make it come off without damage. Thanks for a reply

Thanks, it's a plain barrel, so I guess I'll heat it until the ring breaks loose. No problem with the front sight ramp which is also brazed on, because the barrel will be cut before the sight.

You might want to get informed as how to cool the barrel after heating. I am sure it will make a difference in the barrel strength.
You may be more experienced than me with a torch, but my advise is, to slip up on the heat. You can always get hotter, but if you get too hot, it damages the metal to no recovery. IMO
