Here's a question for ya. Say I am looking at a new gun - and I love everything about the gun - except the palm swell. How hard (and expensive) would it be for a stock maker to rework the wood grip to remove the swell ? Is it even possible ? Seems like alot of guns these days have significant palm swells - which dont seem to agree with me.
thanks for your thoughts

easy. Sandpaper.

But first see if the inside of your hand has a natural divot or is flat. A hand with a divot allows for a palmswell. If your hand is flat, you will not be able to deal with the palmswell. Eh?

Blusky, the reason for the palms wells of today is from the large majority of accomplished trap shooters have known that a large amount of recoil is absorbed by the hand, and a palm swell lessens fatigue , another plus is your hand repeats in the same place most every time! Repeatablity and comfort are one of the reasons of today's big scores, incinerate em!

To some shooters, a palm swell is not only a distraction, but not natural. Proves the old adage...to each his own. So if it's not natural for you, take to heart UtahYork's statement above and don't "read any further"...remove it if everything else w/the stock is right.

IMO, MX2G's opinion is right on...as usual, Eh?.
